One Question I’m regularly asked is :Can I Use My UK Disabled Parking Badge in Orlando? You can’t use the UK Blue Badge in Florida any more. You will hear people say “We used it no problem “ – they were lucky, you could face a $350 fine and have your car towed.
The car parks at the theme parks recognise the UK Blue Badge as a disabled permit but other carparks do not and you run the risk of a fine and possible towing if you are found not to have the temporary visitors disabled placard
You need to obtain a temporary visitors disabled parking placard from the tax office for the county you’re staying in.
There are several ways to obtain the placard which you hang from the rear view mirror in your car when you park.
You can call the tax office for the county you are staying in and send them the details they require, ie a copy of your blue badge, a copy of your passport and the $15 payment and then it can either be mailed to your home or you can arrange to pick it up in the local tax office.
Alternatively , you can obtain a placard when you arrive by applying in person at the local tax office – it only takes 10 minutes depending on the queues
